Two men supposedly killed a 15-year-old young lady and her 27-year-old cousin on Friday in the Laray zone of Martung region in Shangla in what police suspect is an instance of ‘respect killing’.
The Puran Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Zerab Gul disclosed to Dawn that the young lady’s siblings speculated the two were engaged with a relationship and in this way murdered them for the sake of ‘respect’.
The SDPO said that the two were first cousins. The young lady was unmarried, while the man, Said Muhammad, had four youngsters.
Zerab Gul said that the killed man’s dad, Khan Said, told police that his two nephews had shot his child dead while Said Muhammad was working in the fields.Khan Said asserted that in the wake of executing his child, the siblings went home and murdered their adolescent sister, police said.The presumes at that point fled the wrongdoing scene, the SDPO included.
Local people revealed to Dawn that a jirga of older folks had, multi week back, chosen that the young lady and man associated with being seeing someone wed one another.
Khan Said affirmed that a first data report had been enrolled in the Martung police headquarters.
The SDPO said that the case was enlisted under Sections 302 and 311 of the Pakistan Penal Code. An underlying examination is in progress, he said.
