Propaganda Against Viral Card Game

As per news from Saudi media, almost 12.000 people assembled to attend Saudi Arabia’s first card-tournament, and the game is called ‘Baloot’. There is not any gambling involved as the game is more of a worldwide sport and doesn’t involve players exchanging money, as it is done in gambling games.

The 4-day occasion of the Baloot Championship is offering an entire prize of one million Saudi riyals ($270,000) for the best four teams. The games are being held in the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center.

“Baloot” is a classic Arabian card game, similar to the French version called “Belote” and is very popular with the people of Saudi Arabia. The contest is getting a lot of attention at the Middle East due to its large prize pool. The recent wave of modernization from Saudi Arabia has compelled people to think anything they see online.

Saudi Arabia As Viral Card Game

Viral Card Game

For a couple of days now, people have been slandering Saudi Arabia for its over-modernization, stating that the country underneath Muhammad Bin Salman was going out of Islamic boundaries, opening its first match. People will need to realize that there are hundreds of other card games, which do not involve gambling money. In most areas of the world, card games really are thought of as sports betting, where the deck of cards is used like sports goods, such as a bat, ball or a football.

Apart from this specific incident, Saudi Arabia has opened its gates to modernization, together with the national planning on running at least 5000 festivals and concerts in 2018. The motive of this newfound modernization is to boost tourism and a feeling of economic development, when the nation finally runs out of oil, following a similar pattern of this United Arab Emirates.

Later this month, Saudi Arabia will also be opening its first ever theatre, a movement that has broadly been criticized around the Muslim world. But food for thought here is the countries criticizing Saudi Arabia for its modernization, would be the same which do not miss out on one opportunity to do it themselves.
